From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omitted A student pilot had just departed on a second supervised solo in the traffic pattern at Delaware air park, DE. After making his first landing the student pilot instead of coming to a full stop as he had been briefed in the past initiated a take off. The instructor radioed for him to come to a full stop, and power to idle. By then the student was partially airborne and half- way down the runway. The student became confused and attempted to land the aircraft and apply braking on remaining runway. This was insufficient to prevent the aircraft from rolling off the end of the paved runway, impacting a dirt mound and coming to rest. Initial inspection of N493DS revealed damage to the propeller causing sudden stoppage of engine and the nose gear was completely broken off from the nose wheel strut tube. No other structural damage was observed. Pilot was not injured.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ A STUDENT PILOT HAD JUST DEPARTED ON A SECOND SUPERVISED SOLO IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AT DELAWARE AIR PARK, DE. BY THEN THE STUDENT WAS PARTIALLY AIRBORNE AND HALF- WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY.THE STUDENT BECAME CONFUSED AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT AND APPLY BRAKING ON REMAINING RUNWAY.
