From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approximately 1200 local on 10/27/2016 in VMC conditions at klic (Limon Airport) the PIC , landed his aircraft (a Piper arrow) gear up. Leading up to this incident the pilot was on a routine flight in which he was practicing maneuvers for his upcoming commercial practical test. Upon returning to the airport from the practice area he decided to accomplish 4 touch and go's. after deciding to make a full stop the pilot claims that he became distracted on the downwind leg of the pattern. The two elements that caused this distraction were the aircraft in-front of him in the pattern as well as the gear warning horn which became audible when he initially reduced power for the landing. The gear warning horn remained audible throughout the remainder of the descent to landing but was not recognized by ^Mr. Novotny^ due to his preconceived expectation that he had already selected the gear to the down position. In talking witht he pilot, he has already taken corrective actions to prevent a future occuance including a visual and verbal confirmation of landing gear position on the down-wind, base, and final legs in the pattern. I am recommending oral counseling as a means to bring this pilot back into compliance.

As the FAA filed it
