From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Student pilot was attempting a cross-country solo flight from Miami Executive Airport (ktmb) to immokalee regional airport (kimm). The pilot lined up on runway 09 for takeoff. The wind was 020 deg at 11 knots. As the pilot accelerated down the runway the left crosswind caused the airplane to drift to the right. The pilot applied left rudder but the airplane continued to drift right. The pilot then applied more rudder. At 40 knots indicated airspeed the airplane made a sharp turn to the left causing the pilot to lose control of the airplane allowing the airplane to run off the left side of runway 09. The pilot reduced the throttle to idle and applied heavy breaking to stop the airplane in the grass off of runway 09. No damage or injuries reported.
