From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 11/24/2016 at 0750 MST a C182A tail # N6077B with 4 POB, one POB was an 18 month infant and one POB was pregnant. No injuries. The pilot noticed an abnormal oil pressure reading of 15 lbs and his normal oil pressure is usually 60 lbs of pressure. The pilot decided to turn back to the airport during climb out after takeoff and on the way back the engine started to run rough and then shut off 8 minutes later. The aircraft landed 3 miles west northwest of the Safford airport (sad) in the desert, where the nose gear collapsed on the first impact with a sand mound and sheared off and then the aircraft landed nose down into a second sand mound after rolling through a few hundred feet of desert. The aircraft stood on its nose briefly and then settled back onto its main gears. Further inspection of the oil pump will be conducted by the NTSB.
