On December 31, 2016, a Vans RV7A, N5897R, was damaged during landing and departed the side of runway 05 at Casa Grande AZ. The nose gear collapsed and the upper nose gear mount was pushed aft through the fire wall. The right wing tip was damaged by contact with the runway.VMC conditions prevailed. The pilot was not injured. There were no passengers.

ON DECEMBER 31, 2016, A VANS RV7A, N5897R, WAS DAMAGED DURING LANDING AND DEPARTED THE SIDE OF RUNWAY 05 AT CASA GRANDE AZ. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE UPPER NOSE GEAR MOUNT WAS PUSHED AFT THROUGH THE FIRE WALL. THE RIGHT WING TIP WAS DAMAGED BY CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY.VMC CONDITIONS PREVAILED.
