From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 01/03/2017 at approximately 15:00 UTC, N900UC, a Bombardier CL-600-2816, left winglet hit the right aileron of N548BA, a Bombardier CL-600-2B1 at laurence g. hanscom field (bed) while taxing out from jet aviation FBO to runway 11. Both aircraft came to a complete stop after the incident while in the non-movement area on jet aviation?s ramp just prior to entering taxiway s.

Both aircraft received an IFR clearance from ATC at bed and instrument meteorological conditions did prevail for the flights in question. Both aircraft were parked next to each other on the ramp at jet aviation. N900UC was first to request taxi from bed ground. Bedford ground advised the aircraft to taxi to runway 11 via sierra, tango, echo, and cross runway 5. Approximately nine seconds later, N548BA requested taxi to runway 11 from jet aviation with information juliet. Bed ground told N548BA to taxi to runway 11 via sierra, tango, echo, and cross runway 5. Approximately seven seconds after giving the taxi instruction to N548BA, bed ground advises N548BA to use caution for another challenger taxing out of jet aviation and ATC did not know which aircraft was number one. The crew of N548BA advised ATC that they were number one. Seconds later the crew of N900UC stated ?you were number two?. Approximately thirteen seconds after N900UC?s transmission, bed ground advised both crews that they are blocked by a hanger and that ATC has a hard time seeing them. Approximately fifteen seconds after ATC?s transmission the crew of N900UC advised bed ground of a big vibration off the right wing and that they were going to step out for a minute, then the crew of N548BA advised that N900UC had just hit them.

Jet aviation has security cameras that recorded the entire event and provided copies for this office to review. The recording begins at 09:55:50.489 am on 01/03/2017. The video depicts both aircraft originating from the parked locations. N548BA begins their taxi first and gets approximately one plane length ahead of N900UC before N900UC begins to move. The video then depicts N900UC picking up speed attempting to get around N548BA. Because N900UC was behind N548BA at this point, the crew of N548BA never saw N900UC begin their taxi. Both aircraft turned approximately 90 degrees to the left attempting to exit the ramp. The video then depicts N548BA coming to a stop and then begins moving hard to the left attempting to avoid a collision with N900UC. Video shows N548BA move as FAR out of the way as possible coming to a complete stop attempting to make room for N900UC. The video shows N900UC attempting to maneuver between a parked king air 200 (to the right side of N900UC) on jet aviation?s ramp and the right side of N548BA. The video shows N900UC left winglet hit the right aileron on N548BA from behind.

As the FAA filed it
