From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Prior to this flight, porter airlines used the gate for their Q400. Once that flight departed the jetbridge was not parked within the designated safety area.

Volaris (Z5XF) contracts ground handling to aviation port services, LLC (aps).

The lead marshaller involved in this incident indicated he did notice the jetbridge was out of the safety circle, and had seen others marshall aircraft with the jetbridge in the safety envelope. So he thought it was ok.

The lead marshaller guided the aircraft in, and was looking down at the nose wheels (to park at the designated A319 hash mark) when the aircraft made contact with the jetbridge at the LH eng inlet.

The inlet of the fan cowling was breached from the engine inlet 1 o'clock to the 2 o'clock position, and proceeded over the top of the inlet into the fan cowling itself.

Z5XF aircraft maintenance removed and replaced the damaged inlet cowl.

As the FAA filed it
