From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On January 29, 2017 on a return flight from bay minnette, al (1R8) to Pensacola, FL (pns) the assistant chief instructor pilot and a CFI for skywarrior flight training were on a familiarization flight. They proceeded to do a touch and go on runway 26 at pns with the CFI in the right seat controlling the aircraft and lowering the gear. The aircraft began to climb out with the gear being raised. The PIC (asst chief instructor) began having an intercom system issue. The pilot lost comunication and the cfi's intercom became intermittent. The PIC asked the CFI to request a full stop landing from the tower. The intercom system issue continued and the CFI heard the tower clear them for the full stop landing. The CFI was manipulating the controls while the pilot continued to try and fix the intercom issue. The CFI lowered the flaps and lined up for landing. The aircraft landed on the centerline and the prop struck the runway. No injuries to crew. Aircraft propeller was damaged along with belly skin damage from the engine cowling to the aft tiedown. All lower antenna were removed on landing.
