What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On February 1st, 2017, a Beechcraft debonair registered N879R was flown from haskell, OK to Muskogee, OK. The aircraft had just been painted and this was the aircraft?s first flight with the new paint job. No flight plan was filed, no weather briefing was obtained and the aircraft was flown VFR for the estimated 10 minute flight. Upon arriving at Muskogee, OK (kmko) the aircraft landed gear up on the runway, slid along the runway, and came to rest at the intersection of runway 13/31 and taxiway delta.
Pilot was interviewed and submitted a written statement. privacy data omitted Maintained that on final he put the flaps down, gear down and check that the gear was down. He claims that upon landing that his two main landing gear touched down, his nose wheel touched down, and shortly after his gear folded and collapsed. privacy data omitted Maintains that once the gear collapsed and was sliding down the taxiway that he again confirmed that the gear handle was in the down position. Once the aircraft stopped sliding and came to a rest, he turned off the battery and exited the aircraft. No injuries were reported and no other occupants were aboard the aircraft.
Upon investigation, the evidence supports that the aircraft landed with the gear in the retracted position and the gear handle was in the up position. This finding is supported by inspection of the damage and an interview with an eye witness. A photograph was also taken of the aircraft just before landing which shows that the gear was retracted. The aircraft damage supports the gear being retracted due to the inboard main landing gear door on each side not showing damage consistent with the main landing gear tires contacting it. The landing gear handle was in the down position but an eye witness claims that once aircraft was craned up, the battery switch was turned on and the gear attempted to extend. This is consistent with the gear being retracted upon landing, the battery being switched off, and then the gear handle being put in the down position.
As the FAA filed it
ON FEBRUARY 1ST, 2017, A BEECHCRAFT DEBONAIR REGISTERED N879R WAS FLOWN FROM HASKELL, OK TO MUSKOGEE, OK.
^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MAINTAINED THAT ON FINAL HE PUT THE FLAPS DOWN, GEAR DOWN AND CHECK THAT THE GEAR WAS DOWN. HE CLAIMS THAT UPON LANDING THAT HIS TWO MAIN LANDING GEAR TOUCHED DOWN, HIS NOSE WHEEL TOUCHED DOWN, AND SHORTLY AFTER HIS GEAR FOLDED AND COLLAPSED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MAINTAINS THAT ONCE THE GEAR COLLAPSED AND WAS SLIDING DOWN THE TAXIWAY THAT HE AGAIN CONFIRMED THAT THE GEAR HANDLE WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION.
