From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft in touch and go pattern on runway 27. Pilot said he was practicing crosswind landings. ATC reported that the aircraft appeared to land hard and bounce a few times then nosed over onto the runway. Aircraft remained nose down on runway as pilot exited the aircraft. Aircraft was moved off the runway by ARFF personnel then tugged to hangar.

Pilot reported that a gust of wind caught his tail and turned the plane toward the edge of runway pointing him directly at a runway edge light. Pilot attempted to stop before aircraft came in contact with light and applied too much brake causing the aircraft to end up over on its nose with prop striking the runway surface.

Winds were reported to be 230 at 15KTS at time of incident, previous METAR(approx 13 MN prior to incident) reported winds at 230 at 17 gusting to 20 KTS.
