From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Rotorcraft departed Ormond Beach municipal airport around 12 noon for a training flight cross country to sanford international airport. About half way down near deland municipal airport pilot discovered the throttle control was inoperative and the RPM control had been fixed on the higher end. Upon recognition, pilot turned around to home base. Upon receiving clearance to land on runway 8 pilot executed a running landing and performed a go around the first time to reattempt. At the second attempt to land, the helicopter skids made a hard contact with the runway surface followed by a complete stop on runway 8. Helicopter sustained substantial damage to the struts and skids. Maintenance found the throttle cable defective. Poi feels the landing technique utilized was improper.
