From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 3/31/17, an instructor pilot was in N452LH at Kearny giving a new hire candidate hover/ autorotation practice. After the training was complete, they returned to the dolly and shut the aircraft down. This aircraft did not do any other flights that day.

During that nights daily inspection by maintenance they found damage to the tail boom indicating a hard landing. Maintenance is in contact with Airbus. This form will be amended if additional damage is discovered.

The instructor and the student both convey that they had one hover auto that was not very smooth but neither one had any indication or concern that something was damaged. They stated that after the aircraft was back on the dolly they did a post flight inspection but did not see any damage.
