From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The flight was a cross country from kosu to kmfd to kzzv to kosu. During the approach into kmfd the aircraft was in a normal position for a

Normal landing. Once N140SU was over the runway, power was reduced to idle and aircraft was leveled off to decrease airspeed. Once the plane began to sink towards the runway the student began to flare, but as we flared to decrease sink rate and land on the main landing gear, the sink rate increased. The student then pulled back harder on the yoke, before the instructor was able to correct the action we heard the tail scrape the runway.

At that point we came to a complete stop and instructed tower we wanted to taxi to the ramp. After seeing the tail tie down was missing we informed tower that they would need to inspect the runway for FOD and then

We informed the Ohio state flight school of the occurrence. Corrective action is currently being performed in house. The student is going to perform recurrent training to ensure that an occurrence like this does not

Happen again and the flight instructor has scheduled to perform additional training with another instructor at the flight school.

As the FAA filed it
