From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Cessna aircraft N753FX departed lubbock international airport (lbb) at approximately 0630 CDT on 4/14/2017. The 14 CFR part 135 air cargo flight was intended to arrive at abilene regional airport (abi).

The pilot reported he had levelled the aircraft at its cruising altitude of 7000 feet asl and a few minutes later he heard a "loud bang". Realizing the aircraft had lost engine power he programmed the GPS to the closest airport, Post-garza county (5F1). He feathered the propeller and turned the aircraft toward 5F1.

Approximately five miles northeast of 5F1 the pilot realized he could not glide to the airport and landed in a field approximately 4 miles northeast of 5F1.
