From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated that he had been on a time-buidling flt and had only been at the arpt about 15 minutes, when he was asked how much time had elapsed since the engine was shutdown from the prior flt. He noted that he was using the acft checklist start procedures at the time the fire occurred.

Examination of photos provided by the operator dom revealed that the engine and acft damage was limited to the mags, carburetor, control cable, hoses and wiring.
