From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On may 5, 2017 at approximately 2330Z, a Cirrus Design Corp. SR-22 was attempting to land on runway 17 at the Clearwater airpark in Clearwater, FL. The AWOS reported the winds as 27015G23. During a go-around attempt, the pilot in command lost control of the aircraft. The aircraft veered to the left (east) of the runway. The left wing of the aircraft stuck the ground in a drainage area. The aircraft slid inverted for approximately 50 feet before coming to rest inverted approximately 310 east of the centerline of the runway on the enbankement of the drainage area. An eyewitness stated that he heard the aircraft power up, when he looked up he could see the bottom of the aircraft approximately 40? Above the ground. The eyewitness could not see the crash from his viewpoint. The presence of fuel was evident at the site. Evidence suggests that the engine was producing power. The private pilot rated airman was the sole occupant of the aircraft and was fatally injured. The aircraft was substancially damaged.
