From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Following a hard landing the pilot was unable to control the aircraft. The aircraft veered left, then right, then left again and immediately began to skid to the left. Just before it left the paved surface the right main landing gear wheel assembly broke off and the strut dug into the gravel. The aircraft then came to a sudden stop and began to roll to the right. This was stopped by the right wing which contacted the ground and suffered compound bends to about 40 degrees. The prop had struck the asphault and sustained damage.

The aircraft came to rest at approximately 490 feet from touch down point. The pilot and one passenger were not injured.
