From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 5/17/2017 at 1025 EST, an experimental RV-6, N88707, sustained minor damage to the nose landing gear after experiencing a bounced landing on runway 27 at the Transylvania County Airport in brevard, NC. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed; no flight plan was filed. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, was uninjured. The flight was conducted under the provisions of 14 CFR part 91.

The pilot stated he was a little fast (5-10 KTS) over his target threshold crossing speed. The aircraft bounced after landing and subsequent bounces caused damage to the nose gear when it collapsed upon landing. The pilot indicated that he did not properly trim the aircraft which may have led to the bounce. The aircraft skid to a stop with the nose and left main just off of the runway.

NTSB id not assigned as damage was classified as minor.
