From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot planned a flight that would be about 2.5 hours enroute. He had a planned and thought he had about 3 hours or more worth of fuel. He planned the minimum required and his calculations did not error on the side of caution. He landed at his first stop and did not check his fuel. He ran out of fuel about 6 miles from his destination and landed in a field. He chose to land with the gear retracted as described in procedures for a landing off airport.
