What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Shortly after lift off, while being towed, the glider pilot allowed the glider to climb approximately 100 feet above the tow plane causing two effects that occurred almost simultaniously. 1. The tow pilot released the glider at approximately 100 feet AGL. 2 the angle of the tow rope was such that it detached from the glider. The glider pilot stated he had an unknown distraction shortly after breaking ground and did not discover his position behind the tow plane was out of limits for the tow to continue.
