From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot was on return flight to Page Municipal Airport from monument valley air tour. Pilot reported aircraft inability to climb. Started slow descent rate of approximately 300-400 feet per minute. Pilot tried to troubleshoot situation by checking fuel flow, selector tank, mixture control, propeller control and throttle control. Pilot began flying towards a dirt road away from the rough terrain currently flying over. At 100-150 feet AGL, pilot gave control of aircraft to a more experienced pilot. During the landing the aircraft struck a juniper tree with the left wing and came to a fullstop. After safely landing on the unimproved dirt road, pilot began shut down procedures, during the shutdown process, and while pulling back on the throttle, the throttle cable came out of the instrument panel, along with approximately two (2) feet of cable. All personnel on board were evacuated safely with no injuries.
