From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 06/24/2017 at approximately 0825 MDT, N5103X a Champion citabria ground looped during landing on 17R. A private pilot was receiving flight instruction on three point landings and bounced the aircraft during landing. The certified flight instructor took over control after the first bounce and the aircraft bounced a second time at which time directional control was lost. The aircraft ground looped to the left causing damage to the right wing tip, right ailerion outboard trailing edge tip and broke a section out of the right main gear rim. The aircraft remained on the runway and taxied to the ramp.
