From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Monday, July 3, 2017, at 6:05 pm CST, N9714B, a Cessna 208 caravan under provisions of 14 CFR 135, lost power while departing Alpine Casparis airport. The aircraft began to decend rapidly. The pilot opted to make a turn to 090 and tried to make highway 118. He ended up landing in a lane between a house and fence paralell to HWY118 striking a mesquite tree and shearing off a utility pole with the right wing. The left wing struck a tall metal privacy fence, collapsing the nose and main gear. The aircraft came to a rest about 150 feet from the initial impact point, igniting a fire in the engine compartment. The commercially rated pilot exited the aircraft with minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. The local fire departmentment extinguished the fire and the wreckage was released by the NTSB for engine teardown evaluation to identify which componets hd failed.
