07/03/2017 Flight 679 experienced an engine failure during climb from sgf. Left engine failed at 1000 feet AGL. EGT 800 degrees N1/N2 rolled back to idle. Aircraft vibration noted. Crew referenced qrh 72.3 note: agent 1 was discharged.

Crew declared an emergency and returned to sgf, landed safely.

Allegiant dispatched mx personnel to investigate.

07/05/2017 Left engine was removed and replaced iaw allegiant task card 71-080-003. Operational checks and engine run good iaw allegiant task card 71-080-003, 71-070-001. Reference log page 814531. JT8D-219 engine serial # 725438 off and 718174 on.
