From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Student pilot stated: on July 25, 2017, pilot was on a solo flight on runway 180 and was performing pattern work. In particular, practicing touch-and-go landings. The

Winds upon take off were 150 at 8 knots. After takeoff and prior to the event, winds were shifting between 150 degrees and 180 degrees between 7 and 8 knots.

On the 5th landing, upon touchdown, the nose of the plane was off center slightly, right of the centerline of the runway. Pilot attempted to correct for the wind

Influence and used too much rudder and not enough aileron. This caused the plane

To swerve towards the centerline. In reaction, pilot compensated with right rudder and relaxed the ailerons. Pilot could feel the wind pickup from the east and did not react fast enough by correcting ailerons into the wind. The plane drifted off of the runway at bravo 3 taxiway, hitting the taxiway marker, and coming to a stop about 30 feet off of the runway. Aircraft sustained minor damage to propeller tips and left gear fairing.
