From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During flight instruction, student pilot had landed the aircraft and was on roll-out when he experienced light crosswinds causing the aircraft to drift off the rwy centerline. The instructor pilot (ip) stated "I have the aircraft". He was able to steer the aircraft back onto the centerline. Seconds later, the aircraft began to steer hard to the left. In trying to maintain control, the aircraft began to ground loop in a clockwise direction. The l/h main landing gear strut failed causing substantial damage to the aircraft.

Two persons were on board. No injuries were reported.

Total airframe time: unknown. Aircraft was restored. Hobbs time as of 08/18/2017: 58.1
