From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 9/4/2017 1200 p.m. local time, the pilot and mechanic of N2916C proceeded to preflight the aircraft since it has been extensively restored. Both pilot and mechanic review mx logs and briefed on how to run the engine. Pilot informed run up was successful and departed from kswi runway 16. Pilot decided to stay in the pattern for one lap just to make sure everything worked as advertised. Afterwards, pilot departed to the north just south of lake texoma and leveled off at 2,500 ft. power was set to 24 inches of manifold and 2,400 RPM. After 20 minutes of flight, propeller RPM increased followed by engine vibration with an immediate oil pressure reduction. Pilot immediately turned towards an empty field, attained speed for glide speed and selected full flaps on short final. Engine was producing partial power until roll out when engine seized. Landing was successful with no injuries to pilot or damage to airplane.
