From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot stated that he performed a normal water landing. After floating in the water on candlewood lake, the aircraft hull started to take on water.

The pilot and passenger left the aircraft and were picked up by a near by boater.

The partially submerged aircraft was removed from candlewood lake and placed on a dry dock.

Investagition of the aircraft found an approximately 18 in. Crack in the bottom of the hull. Lodged in the crack was remnants of some sort of coniferous tree branch.
