From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated he took off from blackwell ok at 13:30 local and flew to West Woodward, kwwr. On landing at 15:00 local, he landed with too much sideways drift that resulted in a fracture of the cross brace on the right main gear. The fracture occurred at the weld at the hub, and allowed the gear leg to pivot outward, causing ground contact of the right side fuselage and scrapes of the right wing tip.

Further investigation revealed that the weldment on the r/h gear lower cluster had poor penetration and fusion to the axle and separated upon touchdown. This is an amateur built aircraft and the manufacturer of this kit is no longer in existence. No issues noted with aircraft or airman records and this matter is considered closed.

As the FAA filed it
