From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

privacy data omittedPilot was on maiden flight with his recently built aircraft. He aborted the first takeoff and taxied back for subsequent takeoff. On the second takeoff, he was observed in some unstable pitch and bank attitudes. Approximately four minutes into the flight, he was observed in a steep left turn with excessive descent rate. He impacted the ground in a parking lot, slid 188 feet before impacting a light pole and tearing off the right wing. The aircraft spun to the right as it continued to come apart and the main fuselage came to rest 43 feet from the light pole. A post-crash fire ensued and destroyed much of the aircraft. The deceased pilot was found in the wreckage.
