From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The intended flight was for currency and a flight review at ksut. The pilot under instruction (piu) was on the controls for the normal runup, and takeoff. Shortly after liftoff from runway 23, at approx. 70-100 ft AGL, the engine started to lose RPM. (From 5000 to 3000). At that point the CFI took the controls and made a 180 turn back towards the runway area and made a hard landing in the grassy area between the rwy and taxiway, just to the west of rwy 05. No injuries to either occupant. Propeller suffered damage to one of 3 blades. Composite airframe suffered damage throughout with cracks noted in fuselage belly area, landing gear fairings, door frames and throttle quadrant/pedestal area.
