From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot was cleared to land on runway 22R at ksff. The aircraft touched down with the landing gear retracted, sliding approximately 50FT before coming to a stop. The pilot and sole occupant was uninjured.

The pilot stated he was in the process of completing the landing checklist when he was distracted by the control tower calling out traffic and a gust of wind striking the aircraft.

The aircraft was jacked on the runway and the landing gear extended. The gear indicator light illuminated indicating the landing gear was down and locked. The pilot taxied the aircraft to the parking ramp.

The aircraft sustained major damage to the keel and minor damage to the right pontoon.
