What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pilot and one passenger were traveling from kpdk to kpns on an IFR flight plan. At 4000 feet, on the initial descent to kpns, the engine failed without warning. Efforts to restart the engine were unsuccessful. The pilot attempted to land at 12J but was unable due to headwinds and insufficient altitude. An emergency landing was made to a pasture area 4.5 mile southeast of 12J. On approach the aircraft impacted a tree and three fence posts. There was substantial damage to the right side of the fuselage, firewall, and right wing leading edge at the fuselage. There was additional damage to the leading edge of both wings, horizontal stabilator, engine cowling, propeller, landing gear fairings and the underside of the right wing. The right wing fuel tank was breached and dripping fuel. There were no injuries.
