From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On approach to rnwy 16, nose of aircraft veered sharply to left. The PIC corrected with right rudder. At that time the PIC also noted he had zero aileron control and tried to stabilize the aircraft with rudder inputs. The aircraft yawed to the left two more times over the threshold so he tried to abort the landing. While applying power the lack of aileron control was more pronounced so he landed the aircraft instead. He touched down on the center line but was oriented 45 degrees to the right. He applied full flaps to add drag, but he was already in the grass and came to a stop in a drain pond which was covered in anti-bird netting.

As the FAA filed it
