From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed the byi airport approximately 20 minutes behind schedule. In the vicinity of the U76 airport the pilot became disoriented. The pilot then called his father on his cell phone. The father used a tracking app to get the pilots location and gave him directions toward the man airport. The pilot saw a row of white lights with adjacent blue lights and thought he had the airport in sight. The pilot attempted to land and didn't realize until the last minute that he was landing on a road. The pilot touched down on the road and made contact with several trees and ultimately came to a stop after striking a light pole with the aircrafts left wing.
