From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N8085P, a PA-24-180, landed gear up on runway 18 at Apple Valley airport (kapv), Apple Valley, CA with 4 persons onboard while conducting an eaa young eagles flight on 01/06/2018. Multiple aircraft from the local eaa chapter were conducting young eagles flights on 01/06/2018.

N8085P just entered the traffic pattern at kapv when the PIC noticed another Piper aircraft at its two o'clock position slightly below and one half mile away. N8085P elected to extend its downwind leg to the north and turned onto a two mile final to give other young eagles flights a chance to land and clear runway 18.

The PIC noted that his airspeed was higher than usual on the downwind, base, and final approach legs. After touchdown with the gear up and upon exiting the aircraft, the PIC noted that both his landing gear and flaps were in the retracted position.
