From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On January 21, 2018 at 13:30 eastern standard time (EST), a Cessna CE-340 aircraft, N371S, privacy data omitted and operated by kubic aviation services inc. for a personal flight received minor damage when it touched down, with its landing gear retracted, on runway 01 at Sawyer International Airport, (ksaw) marquette, Michigan.

The personal flight was conducted under the provisions of title 14 code of federal regulations (CFR) part 91 with a flight plan. The pilot received no injuries. The flight originated from iron mountain municipal airport (kimt), kingsford, MI at approximately 13:10 EST.

According to the pilot, he was attempting to land on runway 01 and during the flare he, noticed the gear warning horn and stall warning horn, immediately applied full power to both engines, and began a go-around. Both aircraft propeller tips and the belly antenna hit the runway and were curled back. The pilot circled to land on runway 19 and taxied clear of the active runway. The pilot did a run up of both engines to ascertain if he had over boosted them. He stated that everything seemed normal so he departed to kimt without picking up his passenger. Upon arrival at kimt he noticed the damage to the aircraft.

Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. Weather at ksaw airport at 18:45Z was: wind 050 degrees at 4 knots, visibility 10 statute miles, scattered at 3000 feet, temp -3°f dew point -1°f and altimeter 29.95.
