From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 8, 2018, airman privacy data omitted was conducting a student solo cross-country flight from bulverde, Texas (1T8) to Llano, Texas (kaqo) as part of the required training for a private pilot certification.

Upon arrival to kaqo, the airman entered the traffic pattern as taught. On final, the airman realized his path was high, so he entered a forward slip to lose altitude. The airman stated he aimed for the thousand foot markers. Before landing, the airman noticed his airspeed was 80MPH, what he was taught, and entered the flare. The airman stated there was a left crosswind, so he applied the control inputs to control the crosswind. The airman stated that the aircraft veered aggressively to the left upon landing, causing the plane to rest in the grass off the runway.

The airman does not recall putting any unusual control inputs, a hard landing or a porpoise.

The aircraft sheared its nose wheel and gear and suffered other minor damages to the wingtips. There were no injuries.
