From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot reported that after departing the airport with winds out of 240 and using runway 27 for a 20-minute intro flight, a wind shift occurred and on return, the wind was 330 at 18 with gusts. During touch down on the main wheels all was on center line until the tailwheel touched and a gust caused a ground loop overstressing the left main which broke off then the left wing impacted the ground with the aircraft 90 degrees off runway heading into the wind.
