From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Planned flight from pearson airport (kvuo) to the dallas (kdls) and return. Pilot used graduated stick to confirm 15 gallons of fuel. Flew to kdls and did a touch and go headed back to kvuo. At about 700 ft AGL on final for rwy 26 aircraft engine started to stumble. Pilot took over controls aircraft engine quit. Pilot determines aircraft would not make it to the airport (kvuo). Chose to land on state route 14. Aircraft on rollout struck a road sign with the right wingtip fairing. After landing it was determined that aircraft flew for 2.2 hours and when originally evaluated using the graduated stick it did not compensate for unusable fuel, approximately 3 gallons.
