What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
privacy data omitted (Pilot) and his wife (passenger) were traveling from gillespie county airport-(T82) fredericksburg, Texas to Municipal Kate Craddock Field-(bmq) Burnet, Texas. Winds at the time were strong (16 knots gusting to 28 knots) out of the southeast. Visibility was at least 10 miles and a high cloud layer approximately 7000 to 8000 ft. pilot attempted to land on runway 19 at bmq. As he touched down on the runway, attempting a full stall landing with full flaps the wheels touched down and the airplane lifted back into the air with the left wing lifting higher than the right wing. The pilot applied opposite aileron and rudder but with low airspeed they both were ineffective. Pilot applied power to try and fly out of it but it was too late, thus the airplane veered to the right heading toward the ground with right wing striking the ground first causing the airplane to cartwheel and stopping abruptly off of the runway. Both wings were substantially damaged, the engine separated from the airplane. The landing gear was substantially damaged. The tail sustained a hard impact causing tail to collapse slightly forward of the vertical empennage. No post crash fire or fuel leaks and only minor injuries (scratches and bruises) to pilot and passenger. Weather data: kbmq 191553Z auto 17016G28KT 10 5M clr 26/19 A2988; rmk peak wind 18028/1553
