What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 21 may 2018 at or about 1910 eastern standard time aircraft N94909 a 1946 Taylorcraft BC-12D crash landed in a sparsely wooded area. The airplane was attempting a departure to the west from a private grass airstrip in a rural area outside the city of Commerce, Georgia. N94909 struck the top of a 30? Tall locust tree at the western end of a private grass airstrip, and then collided with the ground and other small vegetation. At or about 97 feet from the initial point of impact the aircraft came to rest on its nose in a near vertical position. The damage sustained by the aircraft was violent but contained in a small area and the damage to the propeller was indicative to loss of power prior to impact. The airplane wing group and fuselage were intact but suffered substantial damage and the pilot was fatally injured.
