From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative:

The PIC stated that he launched from piatt county airport (2K0). He

Stated he was towed to around 2000 feet AGL where he disconnected from

The tow plane. He proceeded south, climbing to around 4,500 feet MSL.

He noticed some rain clouds building west of his location and decided to

Return to 2K0. He stated at some point he determined he was not able

To hold or gain altitude and was going to have to make an off field

Landing. He picked a farm field northeast of Hammond, Illinois for the

Off field landing. He made the decision to land closer to a road in

Order to make it easier to retrieve his glider from the field. He stated

He saw the line of telephone poles along the road and thought he had

Picked a point FAR enough away from the poles to avoid hitting them. The

Landing was made heading northbound and on the east side of the road. He

Stated that he touched down at the spot he had chosen and was rolling out

When the glider started to have slight directional control issues. The

Glider started to drift slightly left as it slowed down. The left wing

Of the glider struck a guy wire attached to one of the telephone poles

Resulting in damage to the left wing and fuselage.
