From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Upon landing at lagrange callaway airport (klgc) the pilots performed the landing (gumps) checklist, when reaching the landing gear section the student pilot brought the gear handle down with both pilots visually verifying that the gear was down and they had a green light indication. When they arrived at the (beam) they pulled power to perform a 180 power off landing at which time they heard the gear warning horn sound and did not have the green light indication. After testing the light, the pilot states that the light came back on so they proceeded to land.

After landing and clearing the runway, the pilot stated that the light went off briefly and came back on. Once the light came back on, they made the decision to takeoff and return to the Newnan Coweta County Airport (kcco). After takeoff the pilot states that he cycled the gear 4 times to see if the light would come back on at which it did not.

Upon landing at kcco and performing the gumps checklist it was the pilots opinion that the gear was down and locked in place noting that there was no green light indication. They performed the gumps checklist, did another power off 180 landing. They state that they landed main gear first and after releasing back pressure to let the nose wheel come down they felt it going lower than usual. Both pilots held the yoke back until the nose gear collapsed after which they de-planed the aircraft.

As the FAA filed it
