From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

AAY1991 departed newark liberty international airport (kewr) @ 12:35 EDT for Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (kvps). The aircraft landed runway 19. Ground markings indicate that the aircraft initially departed the runway approximately 3400 feet from the threshold. Markings indicate that by the 4,000 ft mark, all three landing gear were off the runway. The aircraft continued off the runway until reentering at approximately the 5,000 mark. At this point, the entire aircraft re-entered the runway. The aircraft then taxied to the gate, and the passengers were deplaned without emergency evacuation.

The aircraft destroyed a runway light, a taxi light and a runway direction sign.

Initial photographs demonstrate damage to the number 2 engine cowling, thrust reverser and foreign object damage to an engine.

Maintenance inspected the aircraft and found numerous areas of the aircraft damaged.

All maintenance and inspections were at the direction of allegiant and Airbus engineering.

FAA conducted on site investigation of this incident and found WX0A to be in compliance with their maintenance program.

The aircraft returned to service on or about July 15, 2018
