From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot flew from Mansfield lahm airport (kmfd) to bolton field (ktzr). After landing and parking the aircraft the pilot attached the towbar to the nose wheel. The pilot then realized he left a set of car keys back in Mansfield and elected to fly back to retrieve them. The pilot departed and realized enroute that the tow bar was still attached to the nose wheel. Prior to landing the pilot requested a fly by of the tower at Mansfield to verify if the tow bar was still attached to the nose wheel. Tower observed the tow bar attached to the nose wheel. The pilot requested to land on the longest runway available which was runway 14 at Mansfield. The tower declared an emergency on behalf of the pilot. During landing the tow bar folded underneath the front tire and caused it to be pinched. This resulted in the nose tire having a flat spot which ultimately resulted in it going flat after it was freed up and a taxi to the ramp was attempted. Minor damage was limited to the nose wheel tire and fairing. There were no injuries reported.

As the FAA filed it
