From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On final approach for landing at Butler county airport, the pilot was operating the aircraft at 65 knots airspeed and 900 engine RPM. The pilot looked up and realized the vertical descent rate was too fast and tried to apply more power but the aircraft struck the runway and bounced, damaging the wheel skirts, detaching the right brake line from the brake disc assembly, damaging the propeller at all three blades at the tips, and causing the nose gear to collapse down and aft after touching down following the initial bounce. The nose gear strut broke away from the tire yoke attach point and the lower fuselage area in front of the nose gear contacted the runway. The aircraft skidded down the runway approximately 100 yards and came to rest approximately 40 feet into the grass to the left of the runway. The sole person on board, the pilot, suffered no injuries.
