From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Friday, July 20, 2018, N327BK, an Aerostar 601, sn 61-0145-076, was making a test run shortly after maintenance was done to the aircraft. The plane departed Baton Rouge metropolitan airport (kbtr) from runway 31 on its first post-inspection flight. There was one passenger and the pilot onboard. The pilot realized his right engine shutdown shortly after takeoff and decided he could not make it back to the airport, so he landed in a grassy area in the kinder morgan plantation pipeline facility.
