From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 3, 2018, the pilot in command (PIC) of N130SH, a Cessna C210 aircraft, was preparing to depart Lake Village Airport, IN (C98) on a local flight. The weather at kankakee airport, IL (ikk) 18 nautical miles west was clear and not a factor.

The pilot in command (PIC) departed C98 and was unable to retract the nose gear. The PIC put the gear back down but did not get a safe down and locked indication on the nose. The pilot manually extended the gear in accordance with the checklist and obtained a safe indication. After obtaining a safe indication the PIC checked his mirror and noticed the aircraft?s towbar attached to the nose gear. The PIC elected to fly to ikk and performed a landing on runway 22 without incident. The PIC removed the tow bar and departed ikk for kentland municipal airport, IN (50I) to obtain fuel. The PIC cycled the gear several times during this flight and landed without incident at 50I.

After obtaining fuel, the PIC departed 50I for C98. The PIC entered the traffic pattern at C98 and prepared for landing. During the landing sequence, the PIC failed to lower the landing gear and landed gear up on the turf runway. The aircraft came to a stop approximately midfield. There were no injuries and minor damage to the aircraft.

As the FAA filed it

ON AUGUST 3, 2018, THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) OF N130SH, A CESSNA C210 AIRCRAFT, WAS PREPARING TO DEPART LAKE VILLAGE AIRPORT, IN (C98) ON A LOCAL FLIGHT. THE WEATHER AT KANKAKEE AIRPORT, IL (IKK) 18 NAUTICAL MILES WEST WAS CLEAR AND NOT A FACTOR.
