From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 13th N91LS departed kbtv withprivacy data omitted (pilot) and privacy data omitted (passenger) for basin harbor (B06). The wind was out of the south and a briefing was obtained via foreflight.

One overflight of the field then a left normal pattern approach to runway 20 at basin harbor was flown. Upon initial touchdown a loud ?thunk? Was heard followed by a jerk to the left. Power was applied and a go-around was initiated. The climb out and gear retraction was normal. On downwind for a subsequent approach it was noted that there was no left brake pressure and it was decided to fly back to kbtv for the tower to inspect the left gear.

The kbtv tower reported there was no tire/wheel on the left side.

An initial normal approach to rwy 15 was flown, but the pilot aborted the landing because there was an airliner directly adjacent to the runway. The airliner was moved back and a second approach was flown. The right side was set down first, the engine was cut off and canopy opened, the plane was tilted to the right with left rudder held on roll-out and at about 20 KTS, the left side uneventfully touched down on the stub of aluminum just above the axle attach point. Nothing on the airframe touched the ground. The plane stopped shortly thereafter without event. The left gear was placed on a dolly and the plane moved from the runway.

As the FAA filed it

ON AUGUST 13TH N91LS DEPARTED KBTV WITH^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ (PILOT) AND ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ (PASSENGER) FOR BASIN HARBOR (B06).
